Updating album art in wmp

When you use Windows Media Player (WMP) to rip a CD to MP3 format, WMP uses its own method to save the album art, which is in the form of a number of images in the folder that the album is ripped to.

Bear in mind that for this to work, the tracks must be associated with the correct album. It doesn’t always reflect in the thumbnail for the tracks if you were to view it in Windows Explorer and it may not reflect in other media players and you might have to add or associate them again (yes, it’s a pain to do so).

Right-click the album art image and select ‘Copy’ from the context menu.

Next, open Windows Media Player and go to the Albums tab.

Unless you start out with the mindset to keep things organized, you will eventually end up with some cleaning up to do later on.

The clean-up might be time-consuming if you need to update the ID3 tags or it might be simple like finding album art and adding it to your music files.
